[he dips his brush in the blue and paints a swirling, dancing pattern over one of the sleeves]

This will certainly be eye-catching.

And that is the point.

[Mars gives his paintbrush a clever flick and spatters blue dots all across the chest area of his jacket]

[he chuckles]

At this rate, it will look as though I've stolen all your clothes at least once.

[shrugs!!]

People can think whatever they want when they see it. No skin off of my nose.

Well... I can't say I mind it, myself.

I know I don't.

[tilts his head a little bit as he reaches for a shade of yellow next. to compliment the blues]

But I've been that way since arriving here.

I have noticed. It's one of the qualities I admire about you.

[pauses]

Really?

Yes. I aspire to it myself, but so often I crave the approval and acknowledgment of others, instead.

[. . . haaaaaa]

[it's weird, to have someone say they admire and want to aspire to be like him. even if it's just in that one aspect]

Ah. . . well.

Why do you crave approval so much?

I don't know. If I did, perhaps things would be easier. I have wondered if there is something in my missing memories... but that does me little good.

[aha]

[his expression turns thoughtful as he splatters some yellow paint across his outfits]

It's a weird kind of disconnect, to wonder if some of your thoughts and feelings and behaviors are tied to something you don't even remember. Isn't it?

It's disconcerting, certainly.

Yeah.

[pauses]

I like you the way that you are, though. Someone who is aggressively himself.

Really?

[he seems, genuinely, surprised]

[immediately a bit defensive]

Y-- yeah, why? What's so bad about that?

Nothing at all. I was just not expecting you to say it.

[WAVES A PAINTBRUSH AT HIM sorry if he gets yellow paint on you Fox]

I like to subvert expectations sometimes.

[he does not mind in the least]

You have succeeded.

[swapping the yellow brush for a green one now, ducking his head as he does so]

I think that looks quite good. Shall we try another one?

[gesturing to mars's other jackets]

Oh, yeah. . . how's this one?

[pointing at the leather bodysuit next]

Definitely indigo for that one. Also, I want to see you wear it.

[blinks. . .]

Okay?

I mean, I'm going to, because I literally only have four outfits.

[also it's probably warm and it's cold outside]

It looks like it would be quite flattering on you.
