I mixed some indigo, as well. I thought you might like that.

[dipping a brush into the paint as he talks]

It's bold and vibrant, and clashes a bit with other colors, but by itself it is beautiful.

[said as though that's all the reason he needs]

[something about that description resonates with Mars, and he pauses, brush held over the jacket of his first outfit]

I guess I'll use that color next.

[he dips his brush in the blue and paints a swirling, dancing pattern over one of the sleeves]

[Mars gives his paintbrush a clever flick and spatters blue dots all across the chest area of his jacket]

At this rate, it will look as though I've stolen all your clothes at least once.

[tilts his head a little bit as he reaches for a shade of yellow next. to compliment the blues]

But I've been that way since arriving here.

I have noticed. It's one of the qualities I admire about you.

Yes. I aspire to it myself, but so often I crave the approval and acknowledgment of others, instead.

[it's weird, to have someone say they admire and want to aspire to be like him. even if it's just in that one aspect]

Ah. . . well.

Why do you crave approval so much?

I don't know. If I did, perhaps things would be easier. I have wondered if there is something in my missing memories... but that does me little good.

It's a weird kind of disconnect, to wonder if some of your thoughts and feelings and behaviors are tied to something you don't even remember. Isn't it?

[he seems, genuinely, surprised]
