I heard there was gonna be a fight?

[turning back to skylark]

I am ready when you are.

[hasn't drawn his sword yet, though]

[glancing at Mars just briefly before turning his attention back to Fox]

I've been waiting, so draw your sword.

[Mars stays off to the side, lighting up a cigarette as he watches both Fox and Skylark. YOU TWO DO YOU, MARS IS ONLY HERE TO OBSERVE]

[plz skip him in the tagging order!!]

As you wish.

[fox shrugs and draws his sword, flexing his arm once or twice before moving into a defensive stance, holding the katana at the ready]

[no sooner than Fox has drawn his sword, Skylark is already in his general space, tonfa swung at his torso]

[OKAY YOU KNOW WHAT IT TAKES ME LIKE EIGHT SECONDS TO DRAW MY SWORD IN THE MOST DRAMATIC FASHION POSSIBLE, THAT'S RUDE THAT YOU DIDN'T EVEN WAIT FOR ME

which is to say fox is barely coming up to block that swing with his sword, but he manages to do it, albeit somewhat clumsily]

Tch--!

[I have no patience for dramatics, if you want to get on par, be fast.

he keeps the parry up, raising an eyebrow at Fox]

What are you doing?

I should have known you would be the impatient type.

[leaps back to avoid getting hit by another swing, and takes a long hard slash downward with his sword, putting extra strength into it to try and make parrying as difficult as possible]

[brings his tonfa up to parry that, a little taken back by the strength of it, and he takes one step back to brace it]

Hooh... that's better.

[doesn't respond to that except to narrow his eyes and take another hard swing--two, three, four, trying to shove skylark back towards the wall to give him less space to move]

[now we're talking. he brings one tonfa up at a time to singlehandedly parry each of the strikes in succession, letting Fox back him up against the wall until he's close enough he can place his foot against it. he's quick to step off, using the extra charge to dive in low, ducking under Fox's sword to swing hard at his chest]

[fox starts to back up out of the way but he still takes the hit dead-on, just barely managing to stay upright, wheezing. he staggers back for a moment and then flips his sword in his hands and goes for an uppercut, then another hard slash down, aiming not for skylark's front but for his shoulders]

[he manages to parry the first slash, but the downwards one cuts into his left shoulder and he stumbles to the side, that tonfa dropping to the ground as his fingers momentarily seize up. it takes about two seconds for him to step back in, bringing his remaining tonfa down against Fox's sword in a series of heavy handed blows, attempting to push him back]

[he gets pushed back and fumbles with his sword for a moment, not losing hold on it but having to take a few seconds to recenter it.

he's also eyeing how bad that wound on his shoulder is, to see if they need to stop]

[he's bleeding, and his arm looks a little stiff, but it doesn't seem to deter him one bit. he takes Fox's fumbling as a chance to step around the sword to push the tonfa against his chest, slamming him into the wall behind them, stepping in really close]

Don't hold back, now.

[well. this is alarmingly sexier than expected]

[RECOVER, FOX, RECOVER

fox grits his teeth and lifts his sword up to skylark's neck, pressing in just enough to be felt]

The same goes to you.

[tilts his head forward, causing the sword to draw just a line of blood across his throat, smirking up at Fox, somehow imposing even when he's a head shorter than him]

So keep fighting me, Fox.

[is that the first time he's used his name? probably]

[shit that's hot

his eyes go wide for a moment, caught off-guard by that, and he has to swallow hard before he manages to bring his leg up and kick skylark in the solar plexus to put some distance between them]

[he didn't expect that kick, and he goes stumbling back with a surprised grunt, coming to a halt right next to his discarded tonfa]

[he doesn't even glance down as he steps down hard on the edge of the handle, causing it to flip up in an arch so he can catch it with his bad hand. he only grimaces slightly at the action before he focuses back on his opponent]

[ooh, fancy. fox grins and lets out a "heh" before he dashes at skylark, going for a lunge instead of a slash this time]

[Skylark won't wait, he'll dive in to meet Fox half way, bringing his tonfa around in a wide arch against Fox's attack]

[fox realizes at the last second what skylark is going to do, and he adjusts the aim of his sword to go for skylark's hip--but ends up being unable to avoid the hit from the tonfa, which lands and makes him cry out in pain]
